Decent Bundle

The retail packaging for this ASUS Striker Extreme is a bit more extravagant than you'll find on any other motherboard. First the box is laid out in a more vertical format and has the usual high end ASUS motherboard 'lid' that opens to reveal lots of specs and logos. There's also a couple small see-through cutouts showcasing the microphone and sound card that's included.

Inside the box there is two separate packages; the motherboard completely wrapped in molded plastic, and the large accessory box filled with cables, manual, CD's, etc.

Striker Layout Overview:

Here's a couple pictures I swiped from newegg.com since quite honestly, it shows off the layout better than I could:

The most notable feature of the Striker Extreme is certainly the massive heatpipe design that completely encompasses the CPU socket area and both the northbridge and southbridge chipsets.

As you can see it's a feature rich platform with just about everything you could want in an enthusiast motherboard. Everything is nicely laid out. The color combination is really good in my opinion and let's not forget to mention that huge-mongous copper heatpipe cooling system for the chipsets and voltage regulators. As far as I know ASUS was the first major manufacturer to heatpipe cool their premium motherboards and they've taken it to a whole new level with the Striker Extreme. I know it looks intimidating at first and you may think that there's no way an aftermarket cooler with fit on the CPU, but looks can be deceiving. There's more room there than you might think (but not a lot more).

Here you can see the layout of the Striker Extreme both top and bottom. The Striker Extreme is the absolute pinnacle of the ASUS Republic of Gamers line of motherboards. They incorporated every feature and design queue that they felt a high end gamer would want.
