Overclocking:

Ai Boost was a real pain to use as it was constantly asking for a reboot when a change was made, so all overclocking was done through the BIOS - like it should be done anyway. I was able to get the CPU to 3825MHz or 425x9 stable. This was done using the stock voltages and minimal RAM adjustments. With some tweaking of those settings and some other adjustments, higher results can be achieved.

Conclusion:

Without a doubt this is one solid, feature-rich motherboard, with so many features, they are almost too numerous to list. By far the most prominent feature is the SplashTop operating system. I know it's limited to VoIP and internet access, yet it's still a giant step to an instant-on desktop environment or the start of a Linux-based BIOS. On the motherboard itself, I would have liked to have seen an extra 1 or 2 USB headers, but was pleased to see a COM1 port.

For the overclocker and gamer, the BIOS is loaded with a plethora of adjustments for the CPU and the DDR3 memory, thus allowing you to find the true sweet spot of the hardware. Just keep in mind that Ai Booster wasn't all that stable; a true tweaker will adjust the settings in the BIOS. The rear I/O was also loaded down with a ton of connections - no shortages of USB ports back here - and sports the new, softer rear I/O panel with foil-faced foam that eliminates the possibility of having a grounding tab bent in the way of a port.

My final thoughts on the Asus P5E3 Deluxe WiFi-AP@n are positive. The board performed well, overclocked easily, and the X38 chipset is a solid performer. Some people sacrifice performance and stability when it comes to price, but the true gaming enthusiasts will look beyond the price of the P5E3 Deluxe WiFi-AP@n and the price of DDR3 just to have that extra edge. I would like to thank Asus for sending this item out for VH to review
