Hardware OC BenchTools: HardwareOC products basically rely on using simple command line instructions and parameters. However, they are much more subtle and correct than any command lines in a batch file. They spent many hours figuring out how to enable every single feature of a game, features that you can never access from the graphical menu. Hence, HardwareOC Benchmarks can load your hardware with as much work as possible, but this does not affect the really easy and quick-to-use user interface. So the main goal is to understand and analyze each and every hidden feature a game or game engine can provide.
F.E.A.R. Performance Benchmark:
Conclusion: The ASUS EAX1650XT is one decent mid-level graphics card. I was able to play the games listed above with no real issues. Game play was great and the image quality was sharp and crisp. The upped megahertz of the GPU really pays off along with the GDDR3 RAM. When comparing the ASUS EAX1650XT with the X1600Pro, each card having 256MB RAM, you can see how well the 1650XT outperforms the 1600Pro in the test results shown above. So this is without a doubt a step forward in budget GPU power. Talking about taking steps forward yet again, here we go with another way to connect two video cards together, this time with an internal bridge. I think they have tried just about everything to bridge these cards together; the only thing left is super glue, bubble gum or duct tape. Ahhh! With that out of my system, I would like to mention the fan on this card. In my system with other components running, the fan on the ASUS EAX1650XT sounds like a hissing noise, sort of like the sound you get when the cable goes out on the TV with the volume up. Yeah, Ewww!! I mean, with all the types of fans and coolers out there, along with the long history of these fans being loud, you would figure a new and improved card would have a new and improved fan to go with it. WRONG!!! Didn't happen. Noises like that really strike a nerve with me. I hate them so much, I just wish companies would take that extra effort to quiet the fan noise. With the fan being the only real downside to the EAX1650XT and the performance being a real plus for a budget card, I would say go ahead a grab one, replace the fan with something quieter, pop it in your system, and play some of your favorite games. A quick search for this card online found it to be selling at newegg.com for $154.99. I would like to thank ASUS for sending this review unit out to VH.
