ASUS Blitz Extreme & Blitz Formula

Introduction:

Since the release of dual core processors, computer upgrades made a pretty substantial jump across the market. This is no secret especially if you were a prominent stock holder in the technology sector. Browsing the various forums, blogs, and chat rooms, random users have had a lot to say about all kinds of the latest computer components. And as with all new technology releases and changes, it's obvious that users have a big, and sometimes passionate, voice when it comes to influencing the decisions of others looking to upgrade.

One of those arguments stems from the memory module sector. It was the same argument when DDR was being replaced with DDR2. Initially, there wasn't a performance increase to any sort of degree that warranted the expenditure for everyone. As more motherboards were released to take advantage of the new module design, DDR2 finally took off as a viable upgrade option and surpassed anything DDR had to offer. This same debate has resurfaced in the form of DDR3 vs DDR2. And while the newest P35 Chipset offers the corner stone entrance of the the DDR3 module, it's also capable of supporting DDR2 modules. This offers a potentially great advantage for current DDR2 users since it allows them to upgrade their passé motherboard for something far more capable without having to buy new memory.

ASUS has been gracious in providing us with two enthusiast minded solutions for both DDR2 and DDR3 utilizing the same P35 chipset, in the Blitz Formula and Blitz Extreme. Why would ASUS consider offering the two options? Well in a nut shell, it simply saves you some money since new memory standards are always costly at the start and some users would like to really maximize their DDR2 based system. ASUS is well aware of this and felt that their was no reason why both kinds of memory module owners couldn't have a little bit of cake and ice cream. The only question you would need to ask yourself is, which flavor ice cream you would like.
