Introduction:

ASUS 8800 GT 512MB TOP Edition Video Card

I like great graphics just as much as any avid 3D-holic. Games are a much better experience if you have a capable graphics card because it really helps portray the game with a better environment. Granted, any graphics perception is as true as the anecdote, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". But, no one wants to play a potentially awesome video game on a weak system with an incapable graphics card.

NVidia and ATI are still the top graphics card producers. NVidia holds a greater market share simply due to some of the most capable Graphics Processing Units ever created. Some of their older memorable GPUs have been the 6800 and 7900 series. The 7800 series just seemed to fly by with some performance improvements, but without leaving much of a wake.

The latest 8800 series just seemed to keep going and going setting and breaking records all around the world. The 8800 GTS 640MB and GTX 768MB cards achieved some pretty excellent results. Unfortunately, their price tag partially doomed them from the start. These were the most expensive cards launched and needed to be supplemented by something more feasible since there wasn't much of an interim budget series.

1 A GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB must be paired with another GeForce 8800 GTS 512 MB, regardless of graphics card

In the meantime, you've probably seen the ASUS 8800 GT 512MB TOP Edition graphics cards out there and curious if it's a viable option. If you're on a budget or can't stomach spending more on the upper echelon cards, this might be just what you need. Take a look.
