System Properties Logo and Information

There is another quick mod we can do. Those who have or seen computers from major manufacturers have probably noticed that they add a logo and a "support information" button to the System Properties box. This is in fact just 2 files in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory that you can modify.

OEMLOGO.BMP is the image. It's a 180x114 bitmap, up to 24-bit colour. Bigger images will be cropped to fit, smaller images will be centered in the space for it.

OEMINFO.INI is a standard text file. When it exists, a 'Support Information' button, and 2 lines of text will be visible in the properties box. Click on the button and the information contained in the text file will show up.

Each line of displayed text must start with a variable (resembles any standard INI file). Heres an example:

Remember, blank lines need a variable too, even if they don't contain anything. Save both those files in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM. Now, next time you open System Properties you should see your new customizations:

Well, that just about wraps up this guide. These mods may not be very functional, but at least they'll add a bit more uniqueness and impress factor to your PC for free.
