 Stephen's AOpen HX08 Case Mods

A little history; Stephen a.k.a. Hacker contacted me after seeing some of my case mods projects and asked if I was interested to help him built one for his personal use. Obviously, I did not turn down the offer!! So we met up and we did a little shopping and he got himself the infamous Aopen HX08!! He then decided to have the exact same mods as my AOpen HX08 Full Tower, including the Rheostats Baybus! With a little extra in the form of a Temperature LCD Display!!

I got everything back home and got started on the project! This is not gonna be a lengthy tutorial though! Just to show you some pics of what has been done. I managed to complete the project in two days!! Anyway, here are the pics! ENJOY! Note: These pics are not from my own AOpen Case Mods Project! These are new pics taken when I was modding Stephen's Case!!!

Day 1. Markings were made to the case where the holes are to be drilled/cut. Sorry, I forgot to take pics of the side panels marking!! :O)

Using a dot punch, a small indentation was made on the case for drilling of the fan screw holes. Then out came the trusty old Dremel and the cut-off wheels!!! For the front 120mm hole, you will need to find a new location for the PC speakers as the Dremel cut through the original location.

Next step was to enlarge the "cable duct" as it was a little too small. Having all your cables there could really block a lot of airflow from the bottom half of the case.

The chimney fan is next to be cut. Much easier here as the panel is thinner from the case structure itself. Once everything is completed, the fans were screwed on and the fit was tested to make sure everything's fine. Fan grills was also attached. Not bad for a day's work!! In the evening, I finished up his Rheostats Baybus Unit and the Temperature LCD Display.

Day 2 began with the side panel mods. Once finished, slaps on the grills and the filters and the case is good to go!!!

Mounted the Rheostats Baybus and the Temperature LCD Display Units and here's the finished project!! Pretty cool eh?? Now this case is ready for some SCSI RAID LUVING by Stephen himself!!! We are very pleased with the way things turned out!! Now my Aopen HX08 has an evil twin brother!!!

Anyone has a name for this baby??
