Introduction:

Koolance Office

Koolance Lobby

Logistics

When enthusiasts and pc fanatics alike mention water-cooling, a few quick names come to mind. A few of these names are Danger Den, Swiftech, Koolance, or Asetek. Water-cooling has grown from an enthusiast's hobby to a science any mere mortal can apply. The major goals of water-cooling is silent operations, extreme over clocking, and computer mods. Many companies design products for the main components in a pc such as, processor, video graphics processor, and chipset water blocks. Other companies specialize in every facet, which takes water-cooling from a business to a science. These companies strive to set a standard that will earn them honors among the elites.

Pretty much everyone has heard of Koolance and probably seen one of their dreamy machines cooling one serious gaming pc. Virtual-Hideout wanted to know who Koolance was, and what they are all about. Off to the phone and email races I went. I contacted Tim Hunting, the spokesman for Koolance, he was kind enough to meet and give us the history and continuing saga behind Koolance.

Who is Koolance and how did it get started? The idea of Koolance began sometime in the early nineties. The founder, Peter Cheon, was taking care of computer upgrades and maintenance for some of his friends and family. He was surprised at the hardware damage incurred from dust buildup and subsequent overheating issues. An engineer himself, he went about imagining a better way to cool computers while keeping them cleaner. This lead him through various alternatives: phase-change, heat pipes, etc. He found active liquid cooling to be the most beneficial with regard to the direction computers were headed.

These are just a few of the main chassis models in earlier series that Koolance has kept for their upcoming display. There were other variations of each as they were produced, but these were among the better revisions. The PC2 bezel lit up to reveal a circuit board appearance. The Lian-Li was their first Aluminum chassis and has never left their designs. The new rack mount series have been recently updated to handle dual processors and a better pump that can handle the travel distance of a full sized server rack.
