New form factor PC
cases from Computex 2005:
Computer companies often
live and die on form factors. A living example is the
cube cases for Shuttle. Did you know Shuttle used to be
a motherboard manufacturer? Without that cube case, they
might not have survivied. Nowadays, they don't sell
motherboards any more. Whenever a new form factor comes
out, it means a new opportunity. We saw several new form
factor designs on the show floor of Computex 2005 May
31-June 4. Here are a few examples of them.
- FIC's "Piston" column
case
- Beam Tech's pyramid case
- Lian-Li's snail case
