Wrapping Up Factory One: As we wrap up this first half of the PCB factory tour, we quickly ran thru the next few areas; the Clean Room, the Screen Room, the Test & Repair Area and the Visual Inspection Area.
Whew, the first half of this tour has flown by but I saw some pretty cool stuff. I had no idea there was so many steps and people involved in making just one PCB. And to think, ECS has the capability to pump out millions of them each month! I'd also like to give props to all the workers I met and seen while I was there. They were very dedicated to quality and even with all us monkeys hanging around over their shoulder, they refused to slack off (like us) and stuck to the very important job they had. Kudos! ECS Factory 2 - PCB Assembly: After a short drive, we pulled into the 2nd factory on the agenda for the day. While we just got to see how the actual PCB is made at the last factory, now we will see them turn a black PCB into a great motherboard right before our eyes. If you're a tech junkie, it doesn't get any better than this kind of stuff! Now in this particular section of the manufacturing process, it's a bit different. Where before we seen different departments and rooms for specialty manufacturing, here everything happens in pretty much one big room! Here I seen bare PCB's go into the start of a long row and a completed working motherboard land at the other end. Let's take a look!
What I was most impressed with in this section was how open the floor plan was. It was just one big open area with about 7 long rows of assembly and each row was making a completely different motherboard. I seen G31, G33 and P45 sections among others. So close to all those motherboards!#@ *starts shaking uncontrollably*
